Position:Assistant Coach

Joining Bryan Adamski this summer in the dugout will be a familiar face, as fellow Amherst College Assistant Coach Tony Dismukes will take over a similar role with the SteepleCats this season.

Dismukes, a native of Montgomery, Ala., joined the Amherst staff for the 2012 season with more than 18 years of baseball playing and coaching experience under his belt. He was a three-sport athlete at Central Alabama Academy in Montgomery, where he won two state wrestling championships and received all-league honors in baseball during his sophomore, junior, and senior years.

After high school, Dismukes served in the Navy for four years as a radioman and played baseball for the San Diego Naval Base baseball team. While stationed in Scotland, Dismukes helped start a Babe Ruth Baseball League as part of a community outreach program. Throughout his time traveling with the Navy, he coached at various high schools and with summer leagues in Virginia, California, Tennessee and Massachusetts.

Before this past season at Amherst, Dismukes taught at Monson High School and coached the varsity baseball team from 2007 to 2011. He and Adamski helped head coach Brian Hamm lead the Lord Jeffs to a NESCAC West Division title while the team finished 23-10 overall.
